Angry Birds

Up until a few days ago I have always had a soft spot for Kookaburras. They’re an iconic Aussie bird, and every time I see one the old ‘kookaburra sits in the old gum tree’ song automatically spills out my mouth. However while camped at Croajingolong National Park on the south coast of Victoria we met the bad boy gangsters of the Kookaburra world. After admiring them sitting in the branches of the trees and snapping some close up shots I got the fright of my life when one swept in and stole a piece of bacon sandwich straight out of my hand. Once I’d worked out what had happened I looked around to find ten of the little buggers watching me from above waiting to steal another piece of dinner. By breakfast time they’d got even more crafty and flew stealth-like between tent poles and ropes to snaffle Paul’s breakfast wrap straight out of his hand.

Once upon a time I thought Kookaburra’s were cute

Like butter wouldn’t melt

Bit blurry but this is a kookaburra stealing food straight out of Paul’s hand

The next day we had an emu invasion at camp. Although emus are scary size-wise this one just seemed a little curious to find out what was in the back of the car.

What’s that in the back of the car

  1. Wonderful blog! I found it while surfing around on Yahoo News.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo
News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!
