Critter Cam!

Whenever I’m camping I can always hear the rustling in the bushes at night-time and in the morning see the little footprints of marsupial visitors around the campsite. Recently I purchased an Acorn Infrared Hunting Camera to set up around the camp in the dark so I can see what creatures come to visit.

Here’s a selection of what’s been captured so far, I’ll continue to update as we get more images:

  1. A cow  slinking past in the night at Negri River on the Duncan Road, WA.  There was lots of moo-ing all night long so it was no big surprise we snapped this guy heading for the waterhole.

  2. A feral cat at Gregory National Park, Northern Territory. Feral cats are elusive and a huge problem for the native animals of Australia. This cheeky one came in very close to the camp. We heard nothing.

  3. A bandicoot at Turtle Beach, Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. We heard rustling in the bushes very early in the evening at Turtle beach so set up the camera. This little critter came back several times from 8pm to 2am. In the morning there were a number of holes in the ground where he’d obviously been digging for something.

Thanks Ange. We’ve set it up tonight in what looks like an animal super highway so fingers crossed there’s something good tomorrow!
